Prew Lumley

Chair of the Board, Leeds BID. Real Estate Partner, Squire Patton Boggs

Prew Lumley is a property partner in the Leeds Office of the Real Estate group and has more than 15 years’ experience as a commercial property lawyer. Prew works on a job share basis with Karen French and her work involves a range of property related areas. Principally, Prew acts for corporate real estate clients across a breadth of types of occupation including retailers, chemical distribution, builders’ merchants, textile operators, call centres, paper producers and electrical manufacturers. Prew and Karen lead the Corporate Real Estate team in Leeds and Prew heads the Retail team.

In addition, Prew has worked on a number of high profile regeneration projects representing the Homes and Communities Agency (formerly known as English Partnerships) and the various regional development agencies such as Yorkshire Forward and SEEDA. She has also acted on a number of development projects both residential and commercial.

Sandy Needham

Chief Executive, WYNYCC

Sandy Needham started her career as a company secretary and has worked her way to the top.  She is chief executive of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber, the leading business organisation for Leeds, Bradford, York and North Yorkshire.

She has worked for the Chamber for the past 17 years and before that had roles with TV-am, Yorkshire Television and NCH/Action for Children. She feels passionate about equal opportunities and getting women involved at board level.

She is a founding member of The Two Percent Club, a national women’s network which was started in Leeds; a non-executive director of the Leeds Apprentice Training Agency and a non-executive director of Business Enterprise Finance Ltd.

She believes Leeds BID has great potential to improve life for those working in Leeds and help make it a more positive experience.

Andrew Latchmore

Commercial Property Partner, Shulmans

Andrew Latchmore is one of the country’s top commercial property solicitors.  Andrew, who hails from Leeds, has been a lawyer for more than 40 years – 35 of them in the property field.

He joined Shulmans in Leeds in 2004 and for six years served as a member of the management board.

Andrew is a major player in the city’s property world and is a founder member of Leeds Property Forum which he has chaired for five years. He also serves on the Council’s Sustainable Economy and Culture Board and the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Board.

He is also a past governor of Leeds College of Music, Queen Mary’s School, Thirsk and Gateway School for Girls.

A former secretary for Leeds Law Society he is married with four children and his hobbies include skiing, golf, walking, bridge and opera.

Sam Perry

Director of Commercial Banking, NatWest

Sam Perry is a respected member of the Leeds banking world.  Sam is director of commercial banking at NatWest where he leads a team supporting SME clients across various sectors.

Sam got a management degree at the University of Hull and spent a year studying at the University of North Carolina in the United States before working for a year in Hong Kong.  He has worked in Leeds for the last 15 years and has experience in retail, commercial and corporate banking.

Sam plays an active role in the Leeds business and social fields.  He is a member of the leadership group of Leeds Chamber of Commerce and the Leeds City Enterprise Partnership Steering Group. A keen foodie, he is passionate about the city’s independent food, drink and music scene particularly craft ales and street food.

Away from work he enjoys American football, Formula 1 and spending time with his wife, Monica and their baby daughter.

Sarah Dear

Managing Director, Elmwood Branding & Design Consultancy

LEEDS is creative and Sarah Dear, the MD of Elmwood Branding and Design Consultancy, is determined the sector plays its part in the Business Improvement District.

Sarah has spent her career in the creative sector, at the now international Leeds-based company Elmwood, where she has worked across all parts of the business community from retail through to corporate. She understands the importance of good design and branding to organisations and how vital the creative industry is to the Leeds business story.

With a post graduate degree in marketing from Leeds University, she is determined to promote the professional values of creativity in business.

Sarah sees the BID as vital for the growth of the city and attracting vibrant successful businesses to Leeds.

When not running Elmwood, Sarah is a keen runner around her Cookridge home and loves cooking for her family.

Helen Green

Associate Director, TCS

No one knows Leeds city centre as well as Helen Green. 

Helen, who was born in Grimbsy and specialises in Asset Management, has spent the past 10 years with Town Centre Securities who are responsible for a number of properties in the centre including The Merrion Centre. Helen is an Associate Director at TCS and under her guidance, The Merrion Centre is undergoing a major refurbishment.

She went to university in Oxford and started her career at Cushman Wakefield in London before spending over 10 years with Grosvenor working for the award winning Grosvenor Shopping Centre Fund.  For a while she looked after properties owned by The Duke of Westminster. She returned to Yorkshire in 2005 and says she feels passionate about town and city centres. 

She lives in Otley with her husband and enjoys skiing, gardening, travel and getting out and about in Yorkshire.

Diane Cheesebrough

Deputy CEO of thebigword

Diane joined the multi award winning thebigword Board of Directors in 2011, with a career spanning financial services, commercial, BPO, mobile and the public sector. She was appointed Deputy CEO in March this year.

As Deputy CEO, Diane leads across 10 global offices, providing solutions to clients in over 50 different countries. Diane has operated at Board level in both the public and private sectors, and in addition to her core role and skills in Operations, Sales and HR, she has been responsible for a wide range of functions during her career, in particular finance and technology.

David Maddison

General Manager, Trinity Leeds

David has been GM at Trinity since 2015, and is responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of the premier high street shopping centre, with 120 high street brands and a host of outstanding international restaurants. An award winning Retail Director and Centre Manager, David has spent all his working life in retail, employed for established names including Nike and Next.

Away from work, David is a dedicated marathon runner, completing 17 marathons including the last 11 London Marathons, raising significant amounts of money for various charities, as well running 100k for Children in Need.

David believes the BID offers Leeds an exciting opportunity to deliver new and exciting events and initiatives which will significantly help Leeds to become an even greater international city.

Colin Oliver

Managing Director, Futuresound Events

Colin has played a key role in the development and success of Leeds as a city for entertainment and live music. As well as regularly bringing acts such as Ed Sheeran and the White Stripes to play in the city, independent music promoters Futuresound Events runs both the Live at Leeds and Slam Dunk annual metropolitan music festivals and also nurtures new talent in the city through venues such as The Wardrobe, The Key Cub and the Brudenell Social Club.

Colin more recently bought and set up Munro House along with his business partners and the co-working space has become a hub of creativity and a fundamental part of Leeds’ creative growth, providing affordable workspace for innovative businesses in the Arts, Music, Design and Digital fields.

With his passion for music, the arts and new projects, Colin is delighted to be part of the Leeds BID and to further develop the role of Leeds as one of the UK’s foremost creative cities.

James Prince

Head of Branch, John Lewis Leeds

James Prince is making the move from John Lewis Sheffield to become Head of Branch at the flagship Leeds shop, which will be the anchor tenant at the new Victoria Gate development when it opens later this year. John Lewis Leeds will be one of the retailer’s biggest shops outside of London, and in his new role James will lead a team of 550 Partners (staff).

James started his John Lewis career eight years ago as an operations manager at John Lewis Liverpool, and opened the first John Lewis at home shop in Poole. For the last two years, James has also been Chair of the Sheffield BID Board and is looking forward to his new role as a co-opted member of the LeedsBID Board.

It’s a very exciting year for us as we prepare to open in the city, and I am keen to ensure that John Lewis Leeds becomes an integral part of the business community as well as adding to the already brilliant retail and leisure offering in Leeds.”
