Leeds International Festival canvassed the city’s most influential cultural facets, with Music, Tech, Moving Image, Fashion and Food all celebrated, attracting interest and intrigue from around the world.

Now the festival’s inaugural year has come to a close, we look back at some of the key highlights.

The festival kicked off with two days of free fashion shows in the heartland of the Leeds retail sector.

Do You Want To Win?

Do you want to win? saw the showcase of a cinematic masterpiece put together by The City Talking, Blackbox Creative, Leeds United and BBC Leeds, which captured the stories of the players, management and staff during a period which saw Leeds United re-emerge from the depths of the second division to become champions of England once again.

The premiere event gave Leeds fans an evening to reminisce in past glories and catch a glimpse of their heroes – Vinnie Jones, Howard Wilkinson and Gary McAllister, who were all in attendance at the red-carpet event.

An Evening Of Videogame Music

Riley Smith Hall was greeted by a symphony of music from the UK’s favourite video games, including music from the Elder Scrolls, Fallout and many more classics.

Empowering Women with Tech

The Empowering Women with Tech event hosted at Leeds Dock, saw Leeds celebrate the innovation and creativity that diversity can bring! With misconceptions smashed about women in technology and a real sense of empowerment from all in attendance, which saw the event trending nationally on Twitter all day.

The audience’s captivation was a result of the rich and varied talks delivered from an inspiring line-up of speakers giving their personal account of their journeys as women within the technology industry.

Live At Leeds

Live at Leeds brought the festival to its close and lived up to its billing as an award-winning metropolitan music festival. Featuring some of the best emerging and established acts of the year. This year’s headline act Rag ‘n’ Bone Man ensuring festival goers were left in wonder.
