Illuminating Light Night Leeds
Light Night Leeds is one of the UK’s largest annual arts and light festivals, and over two nights (4th & 5th October), some of Leeds’ most recognisable indoor and outdoor spaces will be transformed by 60 spectacular interactive artworks and captivating music, dance and street performances by local, national and international artists.
Check out The Rainbow Platform at Platform Building where people can express their pride for the city in words and colour, and share a message on an 18 metre long text artwork located above Leeds Station. People can send their thoughts by tweeting a colour and a single word, up to 9 letters long to #enlightenleeds
There’s another chance to lose yourself in ‘Heofon’, an immersive light installation returning to the city to take up residence in Sovereign Square. This maze based on triangular geometry has panels which reflect or shift light rays along the entire colour range of a rainbow while the spectator moves in the installation. On the outer perimeter the panels are covered with a mirror film converting the interior in an infinity room – a unique cosmos of overlapping light patterns and constantly changing colours.
Take a break (or a selfie) on the five light benches, now a permanent fixture in Victoria Gardens thanks to LeedsBID – and the only ones of their kind in the UK outside London.
