An exciting major project in partnership with The Welcome People has seen LeedsBID introduce a high quality, professional team of uniformed ambassadors delivering a meet and greet service to Leeds.
The Welcome Ambassador team bring a new, outstanding welcome experience to Leeds, providing a positive and lasting impression of friendliness and vibrancy to all city users. Professionally trained they provide a first class customer service seven days a week.
The LeedsBID team represents the largest single ambassador squad in the UK, setting the city apart as a leader, and reflecting the significance of the LeedsBID as the third largest business improvement district nationally and its ambition for promoting the very best the city has to offer.
The ambassadors deliver a range of areas of expertise including meeting and greeting tourists, visitors, commuters and business representatives in a complete street concierge package. The team is highly visible thanks to their distinctive uniforms including bowler hat, and they work right across the LeedsBID zone, covering key city gateways such as Leeds Station and shopping locations from Briggate to the Corn Exchange, in addition to the office areas around Wellington Street, Queen Street and Park Place.
The team also provide a vital channel of intelligence and data gathering on who is using the city and what for, which can provide a more detailed insight into customer flow and consumer demands, providing real-live market and environmental analysis BID zone businesses can utilise in their operations and planning decisions.
The ambassadors deliver expert guidance and knowledge to visitors, directing them to the most relevant locations for their particular needs and proactively inform city users of the best offers and promotions, cross-selling the opportunities within retailers, food and leisure, cultural and business destinations.
The ambassador service has been closely integrated with current city centre service teams and brings a complimentary enhancement, working in a collaborative approach to bring multiple benefits to the city centre management. An additional facet of the team’s collaborative work in this area is to act as eyes and ears on the streets, reporting any cleansing and behavioural issues to the relevant bodies, offering a mobile information service on these issues to help further enhance and improve the physical welcome environment and enjoyment for all within the city centre.

The Welcome People’s mission is to provide a knowledgeable, dependable service, with areas of expertise including visitor welcome and street concierge services; business visits on behalf of our clients; environmental audits and intelligence gathering.
Welcome Ambassadors, Leeds
As a Welcome Ambassador you will:
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to visitors, businesses and residents
- Patrol designated areas and offer information and assistance to shoppers and other visitors to the area
- Be pro-active by approaching customers and those who look to be in need of assistance
- Actively promote the area, observe and react to customers’ needs and requests
- At all times, act in a courteous and professional manner, remembering your position as an Ambassador for the client
- Visit businesses in the area to promote all the activities of the local Business Improvement District
- Liaise with Police, store security staff/managers on any relevant matters, offering assistance when required
- Monitor incidents of anti-social behaviour and deal with or report as necessary
Successful candidates will possess the following qualities:
- Big personality
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to think on their feet
- Common sense
- A genuine desire to deliver a quality service with a smile
- A passion for Leeds & Yorkshire
- Ability to speak additional languages is an advantage
These are full time positions will work on a seven-day roster, average working hours will be 40 hours per week. Rate of pay is £8.25 per hour.
