As we reach mid-December in the city centre, surrounded, on all sides by festive cheer, (like it or not), pause and take a breath. As footfall increases, sadly so does crime and anti-social behaviour. It is essential to continue briefing your teams on personal safety, simple crime reduction measures and a reminder to continue to REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.
Members of BACIL, the local business crime reduction partnership in Leeds, have access to a city-wide radio network, and an intelligence system (DISC). DISC is the easiest way to report incidents and identify patterns of persistent offending. It can be easily accessed via www.bacil.org or as an app on any phone. All that’s needed is an email.
There’s been some improvements to the platform, with instant messaging live, new groupings, and segregation of daytime and nighttime economy, so information is more relevant. Please do take the time to check it out.
It is easy to contact the BCRP – simply use your radio, message via DISC, or email enquiries@bacil.co.uk
The BCRP is only as good as the immediate, quality information you report to us so please keep in touch.
Remember you can also report to West Yorkshire Police on 101 or online https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/report-it
Always telephone the police on 999 if you need urgent, immediate assistance. Do not rely on any other means of communication.
As December gathers pace, we are increasing our visits to businesses so you will see us in person but please do get in touch if you need us.
Here’s to a crime free Christmas.
