A City Less Grey

2016–2018

Creating inspiring street art to colour corners of the city

Gateways and corners of the city were injected with colour through a series of ambitious street art installations.

This catalytic venture involved collaboration between arts, community, and business partners and made Leeds home to the UK’s tallest piece of street art – Athena Rising by NOMAD Clan which adorns the full length of the east elevation of Platform, visible from Leeds Station and beyond.

Local and nationally based artists created semi-permanent and permanent installations throughout the city centre – at sites of historic relevance and regeneration to new landmark corporate buildings.

“We're so proud of what we've achieved with A City Less Grey and we hope the public art we've brought to Leeds will be enjoyed for years to come.”
— Karen Watson
Artistic Director, East Street Arts
