Purple Flag

2017–present day

Celebrating the city’s evening offer

Leeds can fly the flag for providing a great evening out.

The city has retained Purple Flag status for four consecutive years for excellence in managing its evening and night-time economy.

The award celebrates the great mix of entertainment, culture and leisure available in the city centre between 5pm-5am as well as crediting the city for levels of cleanliness, safety and management, and providing an overall positive experience for people.

A collaborative effort with input from key partners operating across the evening and night-time economy.

“It is absolutely fantastic news that for the fourth successive year, Leeds has been awarded prestigious Purple Flag status. This reflects the tremendous work which is being undertaken day-in, day out by a range of partners to make the Leeds night-time economy attractive, welcoming, diverse and safe for visitors of all ages.”
