Leeds Piano Trail

September 2018

Hitting the right notes

Collaborators

An orchestra of events and activities helped bring Leeds International Piano Competition out of the concert hall and into the city centre.

Showcasing the competition on home turf saw 12 beautifully decorated pianos out into the city centre for people to play and enjoy, the World’s Smallest Concert Hall pop up to host free musical performances and Leeds Town Hall steps become giant piano keys for the competition finals.

The city celebrated the piano and the competition, one of the world’s most renowned, like never before, with more local awareness, interest and engagement – truly turning Leeds into the city of the piano.

“LeedsBID’s involvement has been crucial in achieving our joint goals of really connecting the city to the Leeds International Piano Competition and turning Leeds into the ‘Piano City’.”

Co-Artistic Director, LIPC
