UK’s first maths discovery centre opens in Leeds with local investment

A mathematical wonderland has opened its doors in the heart of Leeds city centre, thanks to significant local investment.

Launched by the charity MathsWorldUK, MathsCity is a new, interactive discovery centre based in Trinity Leeds, supported by LeedsBID, CIVA and the shopping centre.

MathsCity is the home of hands-on maths and offers a completely new and innovative experience for an interactive family trip out. Visitors can escape into the fascinating world of maths exploration by climbing inside a giant bubble or a kaleidoscope, exploring different shapes in the laser ring of fire, and getting hands-on with a variety of puzzle challenges.

MathsCity has been designed to give people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to take their first step into the real-life world of maths in a fun and supported environment. It aims to attract adults and children alike from all areas of Yorkshire and beyond, encouraging everyone to practise being curious as they explore, discover, and solve.

The MathsWorldUK charity was founded in 2013 by a group of passionate maths enthusiasts and educators, with the ultimate mission of creating a permanent world-class visitor attraction in Leeds with the UK’s first Mathematics Discovery Centre. MathsCity is the first step towards realising this goal.
